Privacy Policy

The International Institute of Ammonia Refrigeration (“IIAR”) is serious about protecting your privacy. IIAR understands your concerns with regard to how information about you is used and shared, and IIAR appreciates your trust that IIAR will do so carefully and sensibly. This Privacy Policy (the “Privacy Policy”) describes what information IIAR collects about you, how it is collected, how it is or may be used, with whom it may be shared, and what choices you have with respect to your information. This Privacy Policy is incorporated into and is a part of the Terms of Use of the IIAR Web site (www.iiar.org, or any replacement site, the “Site”). IIAR encourages you to become familiar with the terms and conditions of both this Privacy Policy and the Terms of Use. By accessing and using the Site, you agree that you have read and understand this Privacy Policy and that you consent to the privacy practices (and any uses and disclosures of information about you) that are described in this Privacy Policy.

What Information Does IIAR Collect?

IIAR may collect certain identifying information about you in connection with your use of or submissions to the Site, including, but not limited to, your name, street address, telephone number, e-mail address, and credit card information (together, your “Collected Information”).

In addition, IIAR may retain the content of, and metadata regarding, any correspondence you may have with IIAR or IIAR’s representatives, regardless of the mode of communication by which such correspondence was made. This information helps IIAR to improve the Site, and to more efficiently respond to current and future inquiries.

As with many other Web sites, the Web servers used to operate the Site may collect certain data pertaining to you and the communication methods that you use to access the Internet and the Site. For security reasons and to confirm the integrity of IIAR’s data, IIAR may combine components of this data with other sources of information which may identify you. Unless otherwise described in this Privacy Policy or the Terms of Use, such information will be used only for IIAR’s internal business purposes. Additionally, the information collected may reveal such things as the Internet protocol address assigned to your computer, specific pages that you accessed on the Site, or immediately prior to visiting the Site, and the length of time you spent at the Site. The purposes for which this information is collected and used include facilitating Site operation and system administration, generating aggregate, non-identifiable statistical information, monitoring and analyzing Site traffic and usage patterns, and improving the content and content delivery with regard to the Site and the online media, content, materials, opportunities, and services that are available on the Site.

Although, like many other Web sites, the Site may at any time, in IIAR’s discretion, use “cookies” to help IIAR recognize you on subsequent visits to the Site, IIAR does not currently use cookies to collect individually identifiable information.

How Does IIAR Use The Information That IIAR Collects?

In addition to the uses described above or in the Terms of Use, IIAR may use the Collected Information to analyze and improve the Site, to notify you of changes to the Site, to customize the Site content, to send you requested promotional materials, and for other business purposes. If you contact IIAR for support or assistance, IIAR may use information that you provide or that IIAR collects about you or your system to verify whether your system meets the minimum requirements needed to use the Site.

With Whom Does IIAR Share Information That IIAR Collects?

In addition to the uses described above or in the Terms of Use, in the course of conducting IIAR’s business, IIAR may transfer your Collected Information, catalog and add such Collected Information to IIAR’s database, and transmit such Collected Information. Any Collected Information obtained by IIAR will be reported outside of IIAR only in aggregated formats and will not be distributed in a manner that will identify any particular individual or company.

IIAR may decide from time to time to utilize trusted business and marketing partners in delivering the Site content to you. To the extent necessary to communicate with you or to fulfill your requests for IIAR products or services, IIAR may share information about you with these business and marketing partners. IIAR may also produce reports on Site traffic or usage patterns and share these reports with IIAR’s business partners and others, but the information contained in these reports will not identify any specific individual or company.

IIAR may disclose information about you if IIAR becomes subject to a subpoena or court order, or if IIAR is otherwise legally required to disclose information. IIAR may also use and disclose information about you to establish or exercise IIAR’s legal rights, to enforce the Terms of Use, to assert and defend against legal claims, or if IIAR believes such disclosure is necessary to investigate, prevent, or take other action regarding actual or suspected illegal activities or potential threats to the physical safety or well-being of any person.

What Choices Do You Have?

When corresponding with IIAR or IIAR’s representatives, or when making a request for information or interacting with IIAR or others through the Site, you choose what information to supply, what questions to pose and comments to make, whether you wish to receive further information, and by what method of communication such information should be delivered. Please take care to share only such information as is needed or that you believe is appropriate.

How Does IIAR Protect Information Collected About You?

IIAR takes commercially reasonable measures to secure and protect information transmitted via or stored on the Site and transmitted to and from the Site. Nevertheless, no security system is impenetrable. IIAR cannot and does not guarantee that information that users of the Site may happen to transmit or otherwise supply, or that any communications, or any electronic commerce, conducted on or through the Site, is or will be totally secure. You agree to immediately notify IIAR of any breach of Site security, this Privacy Policy, or the Terms of Use of which you become aware.

You should read that site’s privacy policies to understand how personal information that is collected about you is used and protected.

Changes To The Privacy Policy

Limitation of Liability
In no event shall IIAR, its contractors, suppliers, content-providers, and other similar entities, and the officers, directors, employees, representatives, and agents of each of the foregoing, be liable to you, your company, or any third-party for any loss, cost, damage, or other injury, whether in contract, tort, negligence, strict liability, or otherwise, arising out of or in connection with: (a) your use of, or reliance on, the site, the content, or the services accessible on or through the site or through IIAR; (b) IIAR’s performance of or failure to perform its obligations in connection with these terms; (c) the defamatory, offensive, or illegal conduct of other users of the site or of third-parties; or (d) your purchase and use of any goods or services provided by third-parties. Under no circumstances shall IIAR, its contractors, suppliers, content-providers, and other similar entities, and the officers, directors, employees, and agents of each of the foregoing, be liable to you, your company, or any third-party for any indirect, consequential, incidental, punitive, special, or similar damages or costs (including, but not limited to, lost profits or data, loss of goodwill, loss of or damage to property, loss of use, business interruption, and claims of third-parties) arising out of or in connection with these terms or the use of the site or the content, or transmission of information to or from the site over the internet, even if IIAR was advised, knew, or should have known of the possibility of such damages or costs. In a jurisdiction that does not allow the exclusion or limitation of liability for certain damages, the liability of IIAR, its contractors, suppliers, content-providers, and other similar entities, and the officers, directors, employees, representatives, and agents of each of the foregoing, shall be limited in accordance with these terms to the fullest extent permitted by law. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold IIAR, and the officers, directors, employees, and agents of IIAR, harmless from and against all claims, demands, suits, or other proceedings, and all resulting loss, damage, liability, cost, and expense (including reasonable attorneys' fees), made by any third-party due to or arising out of content, data, or information that you submit, post to, or transmit through the Site, your use of the Site and the Content, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of another. IIAR reserves, and you grant to IIAR, the right to assume exclusive defense and control of any matter subject to indemnification by you. All rights and duties of indemnification that are set forth herein shall survive termination of these Terms.

Changes to Terms
IIAR may amend these Terms at any time and from time to time, without notice to you. All amendments are effective immediately upon posting a revised version of these Terms on the Site. You should view these Terms often to stay informed of changes that may affect you, as your continued use of the Site signifies your continuing consent to be bound by these Terms, as amended.

IIAR’s electronically or otherwise properly stored copy of these Terms shall be deemed to be the enforceable copy of these Terms and you agree that you shall not contest the admissibility or enforceability of IIAR’s copy of these Terms. Except as expressly provided for herein, these Terms do not confer any rights, remedies, or benefits upon any person other than you, and IIAR may assign its rights and duties under these Terms at any time to any third-party without notice.
