Responsible Refrigerants Committee
Refrigerant policy in the US is a complex issue that has a material impact on most of the IIAR membership if not handled properly. The US in specific is in a place of regulatory confusion around refrigerants that is causing disruption to business across the country. While certain aspects of the AIM Act are under scrutiny, the core of this Act is signed into law which is the HFC allowances and allocation portion which limits the amount of HFCs in the country. Additionally, the Significant New Alternatives Policy (SNAP) program under the Clean Air Act prohibits or allows for certain refrigerants being used by end use. The RRC seeks to bridge these communication gaps and deliver clear guidelines around these issues and more.
