This paper outlines factors designers need to consider during the design, installation, setup, operation, and maintenance phases of a VFD project. The paper discusses equipment sizing and location, drive load calculations, driven motor protection, power quality problems, control system interface, and control strategies. Finallv, the paper provides application recommendations based on past experience.
