Many refrigerated facilities have equipment located at different elevations. As a result, inspection, testing, and maintenance of elevated refrigeration equipment often requires working at height. “Work at height” means any work performed in an elevated setting where, if appropriate precautions are not taken, a person could potentially fall an extended distance that might cause personal injury. A fall from height involves a fall from one level to a lower level.

OSHA requires that all work at height is properly planned and organized, with the risks presented by working at height assessed before the task or job is started. Appropriate work equipment must be selected and used, as well as properly inspected and maintained. In addition, those involved in the elevated work need to be trained prior to the work being performed.

Join IIAR for an informative webinar that will examine OSHA guidelines for "Work at Height" and the implications of those regulations for industrial refrigeration facilities.

After participating in this activity, learners will be able to…

  • List required safety measures for working at height.
  • Discuss the risks involved with working at height activities and the precautions required to mitigate those risks.
  • Identify the responsibilities of individuals involved with approving and performing working at height activities.
